With only 65 days left for the 2014 World Cup, the club season is nearing a close, which means we've seen some pretty fresh boot releases. Here at Footy2Go, we put together the 15 Best Boots that have been worn so far this season (so no Magistas or Tropical packs for you Nike addicts). Check out the list below and leave a comment with your thoughts.
15 Warrior Gambler
Releasing the same week as Luis Suarez's adidas Samba Primeknits, the Warrior Gambler didn't get the hype that it rightly deserved. The aviator blue colorway Warrior released linked up with Fellaini this season, and compliments pretty well with United's away kits. Which is probably the only thing Man U has going for them...
14 Adidas Carnaval Pack
Blink and you would've missed the adidas Carnaval on the pitch as Oscar + Fernandinho laced up the blue/yellow colorway during an international friendly vs South Africa. The pack celebrates Brazil's rich carnaval tradition.
13 Adidas Earth Pack
Some colorways grow on you overtime, and overtime this pack from adidas grew on me. The black/orange Nitrocharge, white Predator, and glow adizero are straight up fly.
12 Warrior Skreamer
It's time to switch up between just adidas and Nike, and this boot should be on that rotation. Warrior did a real nice job with this colorway and definitely placed themselves on the map. Respect if you're rocking these joints...
11 Mizuno
Although not a big name brand, Mizuno does get its fair share of fame with players like Hulk and Honda wearing them this season. Adding to that the colorways are pretty dope.
10 Nike Spring Collection
Nike loves bursting onto the scene with eye-catching colors for their annual spring releases, and it's exactly what they did this year. The crimson on the Tiempo/CTR and the vibrant yellow on the Hypervenom look great on feet every week, and typically give a nice touch to almost every kit out there. Can't go wrong with these.
9 Adidas Samba Pack
8 Nike World Cup flashbacks
Pretty bright idea from Nike to bring back the colorways from the 2002, 2006, and 2010 World Cups, as they look great on the Mercurial Vapor 9 silo.
7 Nike Flash Pack
So just when we thought we've seen it all from Nike (I don't know why we keep thinking that), we really haven't. The Flash Pack integrates glow-in-the-dark features to Vapor, Hypervenom, Tiempo, and CTR for the purpose of random pick-up game at 3 in the morning accentuating each silo's attitude (whatever that means Denis Dekovic). Either way, these boots are pretty tough, especially when Cristiano Ronaldo was scoring goals left and right in them earlier this year.
6 Messi adizero F50
The white base with rainbow colors on the side blend well with Barcelona's kit, which was probably an important detail for adidas and Messi. Outside of the professional game though since Messi is the only one wearing them, these boots are a beauty if you get to see them in person (or if you follow soccerdotcom on twitter since it's like the only thing they RT). Anywho, whenever you got Messi wearing your stuff you're sure to get a lot of people turning their heads, which is what it's all about in the boot world.
5 adidas CrazyLight
Everyone has got an opinion on the CrazyLights, typically falling into one of the two categories: "These are the most beautiful boots ever. Go Bale!!" or "These are the most horrendous things I've ever laid eyes on". Separating our judgement from the appearance of the boot, the CrazyLights are the lightest boots ever made, which is a pretty remarkable accomplishment in today's world with all this innovation and technology. So we'll give some props for that.
4 PUMA evoPOWER 1 Camo
You know that saying "if you want to make a best-seller, throw camo on it"... Alright that's not a saying but this evoPOWER PUMA released in January are dope. The camo design on this silo is too clean, a shame that it wasn't on the pitch longer.
3 Messi adizero F50 370
When boots are being made after you scored 370 goals in a Barcelona shirt, you know that they're going to be special. And that's what adidas + Messi did after another record was broken by the Argentine. The classy boots were donned by the Barca #10 in only one match (vs Celta De Vigo).
2 adidas Samba Primeknit
The boot that Luis Suarez debued vs Manchester United earlier this year undoubtedly revolutionized the boot world. The knitted upper serves to provide skin-like feel on the ball. And even though Suarez only use them once, we all wish we could have a pair. Admit it.
1 PUMA evoPOWER Stampa
In our humble opinion, the best boots so far this season, and who really deserves the #1 spot other than Mario Balotelli. The AC Milan stud rocked these "newspaper" boots in a match earlier this year, and it got the world again staring at his feet. If you managed to pick up a pair for on release date, consider yourself lucky, as these are some pretty rare gems.
"Why always...... PUMA?"
