Boots Of The Match: Neymar Leads Brasil To Opening Day Win

The wait is over as the 2014 FIFA World Cup is fully underway (Thank you BasedGod). We kick-off this World Cup edition of #BootsOfTheMatch with the Opener between host country Brasil and Croatia. After a shaky start from Brasil, Neymar was able to drop a deuce (as in score 2 goals for you dirty minds) and lead his country to an opening day victory. Laced up in the Hypervenoms, Nike is celebrating up in their HQ that their lead man seems as if he'll do a repeat of the Confederations Cup last year. Hopefully this turns into a goal scoring war between Messi (adidas) vs Neymar (Nike), because that'll be too dope.

As for the rest of the boot world, Julio Cesar opted for Nike HyperVenoms after trying out the Tiempos and Magistas in earlier friendlies, Marcelo scores his first World Cup goal* in the adidas F50 adizero "battle pack", Modric laces up in the Nike Mercurial Vapor X, Hulk wore the Mizuno Morelia Neo, and much more.

We Crown The 2013-2014 #BootsOfTheMatch Champion

*boxing announcer voice*

And the new 2013-2014... Heavyweight... #BootsOfTheMatch... Champion of the world...

Cristianooo Ronaldooo

Talk about a successful year for a guy, Cristiano Ronaldo won the Ballon D'Or, the Copa Del Rey, UEFA Champions League, and now (the oh so good icing on the cake) Boots Of The Match Champ. With special edition and player exclusive boots all in one year, its been a good season for us boot lovers.

Starting the 2013-2014 campaign with the Mercurial Vapor IX, Ronaldo moved on to one of the most anticipated boot releases, the Nike CR7 Galaxy. Following the Galaxies, Ronaldo wore the Flash Pack Mercurials, a boot that didn't recieve much playing time from other footballers. From there, Ronaldo began to wear the Mercurial Vapor IX 2010 Edition, a boot that was reserved only for him. This then led to Nike releasing another limited edition CR7 boot, celebrating his Ballon D'Or achievement. The boot didn't receive much playing time, but it definitely proved to be a historical boot. Further, Ronaldo will wear the revolutionary high-top Nike Mercurial Vapor Superfly IV in this upcoming World Cup, giving one last bow before the official end of the football season.

In total, Ronaldo will lace up in six different boots by the end of the World Cup and, in conclusion, the 2013-14 #BootsOfTheMatch Champion.

Boots Of The Match: Ronaldo Switches Back Into Mercurial IX 2010 Edition

Seems like the on field screening of the SE CR7 is over, as Ronaldo switched back into the Mercurial IX 2010 edition on Tuesday night against Bayern Munich. Fortunately for Madrid fans, he didn't skip a beat, netting twice while raising his Champions League goal tally to 16 this year, the most ever. And the 4-0 win for Los Blancos didn't go without some pretty funny memes about Munich, so we put a list of the best ones below :)

As for the rest of the boot world, John Terry opted to wear the Nike Tiempo Legend IV, Mascherano followed suit in wearing an old color scheme of the Nike CTR360 Maestri III, Chicarito received the Nike Mercurial Vapor IX SE MVXV (hopefully he wears them on the pitch), and much more.
